ROOTS


         Ten years ago when the Berlin wall fell it appeared the consensus about the end of history. It meant the death of  socialism. On the other hand,
capitalism turned out  a big thing. The informatics giving base for the
financial movement,  in a short time the economic globalization had its
consolidation. It is the third wave maintaining the authoritarism and
exploration of the man by the man. Anarchism, as always, came up timidly into the scene of the humanity's social changes. The first explosion recently  was in 1994 in Mexico, destroying the concept of the end of history. It turned into a fight known as the extinction of  the Guerilla's fight, with rifles and body to body fights  in the jungle. The Zapatism, an  extremely actual  way of anarchism, conquers the autonomy  of south Mexico.

The globalization collided with the libertarian’s motions, that grew even
more. In 1999 exploded the Seattle’s protest , anarchy appeared in the global midia, at each meeting of the global organization of dialing (OMC). The protests appear in even more cities. Still in 1999, in Brazil, the Zapatists made
their second American Meeting for the Humanity against the Neoliberalism,
bringing together  almost 3000 people dreaming with another world. Last year, two events happened that symbolized the murder against the humanity: Carlos Giuliano in Italy and the WTC in USA.

The growing of the anti - globalization movement was frightening the old “new global order”. In Genova police retaliation grew against the
manifestations. The State power come up when the young manifestator Carlo
Giuliano was shot down in front of  photographers from the whole world. The
police  murders are quite frequent, but the explicit way in which it happened had the political intention to intimidate others and future revolutionaries.
The terrorism against the Twin Towers in NY transmitted  live in many
angles,  showed the other side of power. The globalization and the religious
base weren't  much  in evidence. The emotion felt by me and other people that watched live the towers come down burying thousands of  people,  was the same,  that doesn't come up daily with the murders current to the global economics politic: hunger, misery, slavery, etc. I'm talking about the frequent killings resulting from the global economic policies: hunger, misery, slavery, etc.

The terrorism is the practice of the capitalism, American or Moslem.
The capitalism was the most benefited with the attempts, making one more
war necessary to renew the economy of the war's industry; making stronger
the State's control of people, by the  technology's spying or the
manipulation of them through the midia ( an example is the  fake news
about the Palestinians reaction showed at CNN), to turn equal the
terrorists and the anti globalization's rebels.

The libertation's movement has being much more watched after the attempt, but  make or will make the movement fall in a reflow is the authoritarism disguise of the libertarism . In 2000, in the International Meeting about Libertarian Culture in Florianopolis, there came up the authoritarism inside the movement, that is not accuse how should be. By the ex-marxists that don't agree, or by the new dreamers that are authoritarian   in a dissimulate way: punks, ecologists, vegetarians, assexuados or what ever.

 

WINGS

 

After I did SOMA, in 1991 I got into formation with Roberto Freire, the SOMA creator. We made the Coletivo Anarquista Brancaleone (Brancaleone Anarchist Collective), and our first manifest was called Dead the Authoritary  Socialism – Live the Libertary Socialism.  

After nine years of cumplicity on Brancaleone, in December of  2000, I  got out of the collective (in the same reunion, Roberto Freire, for health reasons also separated himself from Brancaleone). In 2001:

. I  coordinated SOMA in Curitiba and Belo Horizonte (in Campinas and Natal, happened works without continuity, and in São Paulo only happened demonstrations);

. In São Paulo the only city that we worked “both SOMAS”, I implanted the Espaço Cultural Tesão – Soma, Capoeira Angola e Anarquia (Tesão Cultural Place – Soma, Capoeira Angola and Anarchy) with classes of Capoeira Angola and libertary events;

. After some months without students and a place, we returned with classes and rodas of Coletivo Iê de Capoeira Angola Libertária (Collective IÊ of  Libertary Capoeira Angola), taking back the research and development of IÊ;

. The Curso de Pedagogia Libertária (Libertary Pedagogy Course) is growing up, the Collective Brancaleone still has the Course in Rio de Janeiro. In the cities that I work, I started to nominate Oficina de Criatividade Libertária (Workshop of Libertary Creativity), a development of the Pedagogy Course that was created by me and others somaterapeutas in 1994. In São Paulo and Belo Horizonte the workshops happened and already show its firsts results: in Belo Horizonte it comes as a musical show and the ‘Anormal’ newspaper; in São Paulo the pre – production of the newspaper Tesão – Prazer e Anarquia (Tesão - pleasure and anarchy), that might return in 2002;

. With the formation of TESÃOEDITORI@L I’m working together with new partners increasing the editorial production of SOMA.

 

THE FLIGHT...

 

The description of SOMA on Roberto Freire’s books only indicate the beginning of the research with Capoeira Angola. And after 7 years researching and learning together, in 1997 we started to direct in different ways of seeing and feeling Capoeira Angola.

The Personal conflicts that took me to  separate of Brancaleone , expressed the scientific separation that was happening between us. In 2001, João da Mata published a book about his sight about Capoeira and Soma, research that is adopted by Brancaleone. Roberto Freire was back to the Collective Brancaleone (information on Brancaleone’s site) and in December, I get scientifically separated of Freire.

I feel that I developed my roots and wings for my flight. I don’t want to provocate  displeasure, neither live the wearing of confusions about the SOMA’s division. When I was in formation I participated of the fight that was the returning of Freire to the Soma that he believed. I believe and trust in Roberto Freire, João da Mata, Jorge Goia and Vera Schoreder; I recommended the SOMA that they produce but also I realize a new way to express my SOMA and in the beginning of this year, I add a suffix to nominate what I produce and believe.    

 

...SOMA – IÊ!!

 

To produce a more efficient therapy, I realized that I want to live the same attached relation in Capoeira Angola as I live with the Anarchism: visceral. In this year I intent to publish a book showing in a deeper way the results of the capoeira angola in the human being. To make it possible, is necessary to define what’s the Capoeira Angola among the other capoeiras. Besides this manifest, I’m publishing a text about the capoeiras that will anticipate my sight of the Angola and show my disagreements with the Roberto Freire’s Soma, practiced by Brancaleone.

I adopt SOMA – IÊ, because it’s the same Soma of the Roberto Freire’s books: “A Alma é o Corpo” (The soul is the body) and “A arma é o Corpo” (The weapon is the body). I add the word IÊ, because it’s used to start and finish a “roda de capoeira”, but mostly because since 1993, with the establishment of the first group of Capoeira Angola in São Paulo by the Soma, and than in 1995, with the radicalization in self-management, we created the Coletivo Iê de Capoeira Libertária (Iê Collective Of Libertary Capoeira Angola).

The first step of SOMA – IÊ, in this year, is being the creation of a national collective that expand the importance of the IÊ inside the universe of capoeiragem, but mostly to consolidate the development of the libertary proposal inside the collectives. Other changes that fortified the proposal are the TESÃOEDITORI@L (a publication) and the Oficinas de Criatividade Libertária (Workshops of Liberator Creativity).

If the globalization gets stronger with murders and terrorisms (until China became a member of the Mundial Organization of Commerce), we can amplify the libertary strategies, learning with the Negro’s art (that simulate their fight as a dance) to, in this moment of libertary reflow, maybe invert the “history course” of the inhumanity to the humanity. The libertary fight became complex as we got to combat in many fronts like against the capitalist power, against partners that depreciate and get into the power game, trying to find partidary or indirect alternatives; or even libertary alternatives, but in a authoritarian way. In February, in Porto Alegre, happened the 2º Fórum Social Mundial, that defends another way of globalization, that we know is another trying of detours the possible changes and real actions. Detours tried by the Brazilian opposition, as happened in the 2nd Zapatista Meeting in Belém do Pará. And if we have more and new technologies, it´s being more used by the power, to keep the status quo, not affecting the structures. So we realise the need of fighting against the authoritarian structure with new perceptions and strategies.

The liberator movement, the only real alternative, is infected of authoritarism, neurosis, and contradictions. The change can start when and how we want, but only IF we want. The proposal of the SOMA – IÊ, in the therapy or in the pedagogy, offers a concrete proposal. To change the world starts in the change of the man, but not in internal, spiritual aspects, but in the quotidian living, in the interpersonal and social relationships. The first murder, and the greatest, is done against the own body, quitting the fighting and the BEING. Quitting the libertary love and the creative production, it’s change the freedom for minimal warranties of surviving and consuming in a society programmed for a few people to consume.

In 2002, march, we’ll start new therapeutic groups of SOMA – IÊ in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Curitiba. We have contacts in other cities as Recife and we’re open to other proposals. Still in this year, we’ll be establishing the library of the Espaço Cultural TESÃO, in SP.

We’ll take back the anarchy growing, using the strategies of the capoeira angola. I believe we can live the anarchism of the experiences of Spain in 36/39, of the Colônia Cecília, in Paraná, Brazil, of Mackno in Ukrain, but mostly the ones we’ll create, depending on each one…
